Padel in Canggu and Pererenan: booking, levels and events

Canggu and Pererenan have become the place where Bali's padel community gathers. The area draws surfers, remote workers, long-stay travellers and locals who want a sport that is social, easy to learn and quick to organise. Padel ticks all three boxes, and Pad Thai Padel Canggu gives the area five indoor courts to play it on.

This guide explains the practical side: how to book a court, what coaching costs, how levels work and why they matter, where to find partners if you arrive alone, and which weekly events are worth putting in your diary. It also explains why indoor courts change the game during the rainy season.

There are two ways to book at Pad Thai Padel Canggu, and both take a couple of minutes. The web route is the Setpoint checkout at book.getsetpoint.io/checkout/pad-thai-padel-bali. Pick a date, choose a court and a time, pay, and you are done. It needs no app and works well for a one-off visit.

The app route is The Padel Society, available on iPhone and Android. It does the same court booking, and it also holds your coaching bookings, the events calendar, open matches and your level rating in one place. If you plan to play more than once, the app is the better home. Courts are open from 07:00 to 23:00 daily, sessions are typically 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and evenings fill up first.

Lessons at the Pad Thai Padel Academy in Bali are priced in Indonesian rupiah with tax included. Every lesson includes the court, balls, a racket, water refills and access to the wellness space, so there is nothing to add at reception.

• One-hour lesson for one or two players: IDR 1,700,000
• 90-minute lesson: IDR 2,400,000
• Four-hour package: IDR 6,200,000
• Eight-hour package: IDR 12,200,000
• Additional player: IDR 300,000 per person per hour, or IDR 400,000 per person per 90 minutes

Head coach Zeus Sanchez is a professional circuit coach; academy pro player Miguel Gonzalez reached number 84 on Premier Padel in 2024 and a career-high number 25 on A1 Padel in 2026. Book through the Coaching section of The Padel Society app or at reception.

The Padel Society rates every player on a numeric scale, and the Bali academy groups players into four bands: Iron from 1.0 to 1.79, Bronze from 1.8 to 2.49, Silver from 2.5 to 3.49 and Gold from 3.5 to 4.49. The app matches players by level when you join events, which is why a rating is worth having even if you never plan to compete.

Each band has its own WhatsApp group, and you can join the one that fits you from the academy page. That is where regulars arrange games between events, look for a fourth at short notice and hear about new sessions first. There is also a general Bali community group for people who are not sure of their level yet.

Padel is played in doubles, so you need three other people. If you arrive in Bali without a padel circle, the open matches page lists games that already have a court booked and a spare place. Join one at your level, turn up and play. It is the fastest way to move from spectator to regular.

Americanos work the same way on a bigger scale. Partners rotate every round, so you play with and against everyone in the session and leave with a phone full of new contacts. Coming alone is normal, and for many players it is how their Canggu padel life started.

The club's events feed has settled into a weekly rhythm since the soft opening in August 2026. These are the formats that appear most often on the events page and in the app:

• Guided Americano with Coach: a rotating Americano with a coach on hand for tips between rounds.
• Ladies Guided Americano and Ladies Americano: women-only sessions in the same format.
• First Time Padel: a beginner session that teaches the rules, the basic shots and a first game.
• Friday Night Americano: the social fixture of the week under the lights.
• King of the Court and Queen of the Court: a fast format where the winning pair stays on.
• Americano: the open, rotating format that fills weekday evenings.

Sessions are joined in The Padel Society app, where you can see the level range, the number of places left and the price before you commit.

Bali's rainy season is real, and tropical rain does not always announce itself. On an outdoor court a booking at 17:00 can be washed out at 16:45. Pad Thai Padel Canggu has five indoor courts, so games go ahead as booked, Americanos do not get cancelled halfway through, and coaching blocks stay on schedule.

The roof helps in the dry season too. Playing at midday under cover is far more comfortable than on an open court, and early reviewers have pointed to the cooling as one of the club's strengths. For people who play regularly, that predictability is the difference between a hobby and a habit.
